Tools: Craft Calculator documentation
AOP's Craft Calculator is a powerful tool which can help Atlantica Online's players in their crafting activities.
It proposes a lot of inline help, that you can see moving your mouse on the different fields. This documentation will show you in 5 steps how it works.
Before that, just memorize an important thing: within the Craft Calculator (like the whole AOP fansite), left side contains general and user-independant content ; right-side contains personalized info and user-dependant content.
1. How to choose a craft
The first time you open the Craft Calculator, it will show the Action: Auto-Craft [Beg] item. You have several ways to select another one, and navigating through crafts.
The left listing shows all available crafts by name. The number at the end of the game gives the skill level needed. You can go up/down using your mouse or your keyboard (arrow keys). Another useful shortcut is to type the first letter of the item you want (you must click in the listing before so as to select it). To load a new item from here, just Double-click or press your SpaceBar on it.
Just underneath, you have the History List and control. Try loading several items, each new one will be added in your history. You can navigate through your history using the dropdown or arrow icons. It works exactly as your web browser.
The small
info icon will display a popup giving you info on the current item, including loot and enchanting tables (if available). To close the popup, click on the X at the bottom, or use your X key (doesn't work will all browser). Basically, it's a shortcut towards the Items section of the site, selecting the right item for you.
The right listing shows all available crafts sorted by skill/category, then the level required in this skill (the numbers you can see before the item names). You can go up/down using your mouse (no keyboard here), and load an item by clicking on it.
Names in red are items you cannot craft ; names in blue are items you can craft. This matches you own skill levels, that you enter in your settings (we'll see this aspect soon).
Just underneath, you have 2 filters available:
- the Hide unable checkbox will hide/show the items you cannot craft, so the names in red.
- the Show skill dropdown allow you to select a specific craft category (ie only swords or food).
These filters are cumulative, that means if you check Hide unable and select Spear in the dropdown, the list will only show the Spears you can craft.
2. How to put your settings
This part is only available to registered users, and is essential to use the best abilities of the Craft Calculator.
Just click on the Settings link at the top-right of the page. A pop-up will appear. To close it, click on the X at the bottom, or use your X key (doesn't work will all browser).
Now let's see what it proposes:
Set your skill levels
The table at the left allows you to set up your skill levels, plus the Auto-craft expression. Just copy your ingame data, skills appear in the same order as the game window.
They will be used by the craft calculator to determine which items you can craft (see above with name colors), but also the crafting cost calculation.
Indeed, in our Auto-Craft [Beg] example, this craft requires a Multi-Hued Crystal Shard. This material can be crafted if you know Crystal level 1.
So if you don't put Crystal 1 in your skill levels, the Craft Calculator will consider you'll have to get it by yourself. As it isn't sold on the Market (with a fixed price), its cost will be 0 by default (and the cost will appear in red).
But if you specify in your settings that you know Crystal at level 1 or more, the Craft Calculator will consider you'll craft the Multi-Hued Crystal Shard by yourself, whose cost (which now appears in green) is 119,600 gold using fixed prices.
Set your material costs
If we continue with this last example, especially the Multi-Hued Crystal Shard, you will see the calculator use the market price by default (red-colored prices).
Now let's imagine you get a lot of Ashen Crystal, and don't need to buy them. In your settings window, type 0 in the Price textfield, then find the Ashen Crystal in the right list (ordered by name), and double-click on it. You will see it added in the left list (your material prices), with its cost (0).
Think about reading the instructions in the settings page. For example, you can remove an item from your list by double-clicking on it (it can occur when your own stock is over). You can also change an existing price by adding the same item with a new price: the most recent will erase the old one.
Now save your changes by clicking on the submit button (DO NOT USE THE ENTER KEY OF YOUR KEYBOARD).
It will display you new settings, and the following message:
Your settings have been saved. If you were in the Craft Calculator, you should refresh its page.
So let's do it, using the F5 key or the Refresh button of your browser.
See the changes in the Craft Calculator
At the top-right area of the Craft Calculator page, you will see:
Your skill levels. Example:
Your crafting skills: *Auto-Craft* (2), Action (30), Cannon (34), Crystal (1), Fishing (10), Spear (51).
Your prices, within a table. Note: each price is, obviously, per unit. So in our example:
Ashen Crystal - 0
We can also see quickly that the Craft Cost for one Multi-Hued Crystal Shard decreased from 119,600 gold to 118,000 gold (we'll see later how the costs are calculated), as we don't have to buy the Ashen Crystal anymore.
3. Understand the vocabulary around Crafting
The Craft Calculator gives a lot of data, what can be disturbing for beginners. That's why we'll give a few explanations about the terms used.
Craft Information
- Workload: the necessary number to reach to achieve the craft. It automatically raises fighting monsters or using the auto-craft expression.
- Items per batch: number of items built by craft. Ingame you can stack identical crafts, but not divide them. So if one craft give 2 items, you can load 2 crafts (=4 items), 3 crafts (=6 items) and so on, but not 1 item or 3.
- Required skill
- Time needed (auto-craft lvl 1): time to perform this workload considering the crafter has Auto-craft at level 1. This way you can compare with your own time to see the difference.
- Experience (%): the first number is the experience given by this workload, the second one the percentage that it represents for the required skill level. For example, crafting a batch of Auto-craft [Beg] basically gives 1,000 xp. And it requires Action level 2. Experience required to go from level 2 to level 3 is 62 (see Experience table), so it represents 1,612% !
- Cost | XP_yield: the first number is the total crafting cost, considering a crafter who would have all skills at level 100 and buy the materials at the Market (fixed prices). So if you want to know the basic true cost of an item, it's here.
The second number gives the yield-ratio between the cost and the experience earned, more precisely how many xp per 1,000 gold. Example: if a craft costs 4,000,000 gold and gives 6,000 xp, the ratio will be 1.5. So the higher this number is, the better it is!
: each craft belongs to a specific category (ex: Sword items need... sword craft skill!) and requires a specific levels. In the Craft Calculator, levels are directly visible into the selection lists.
Your Information
- Your Auto-Craft level:: the level you put in your settings, or 1 by default. You can change it here to see in real-time the impact on the time needed. Click on the button "Save" besides to save it in your settings (registered users only).
- Item quantity:: takes the Item per batch value by default. You can change it to see the cost per unit, the cost if you perform 4 batches, etc.
- Your Skill level
- Your Time: same as the left column, but regarding the auto-craft level your specified above.
- Item quantity to level up: number of items (NOT BATCH) you need to craft to reach the level you want (use the arrows to increase/decrease the objective), and from the skill level you specified above.
- Cost | XP_yield: same as the left column, but the values depends on your skill levels and your prices your specified in your settings. That means you'll really get the perfectly right cost if your fill your profile correctly. Priority order is 1)Price you specified 2)Crafting cost 3)Market fixed price.
: the level you put in your settings related to the current craft, or 0 by default. You can change it here to see in real-time the impact on the Item quantity to level up
, but it won't change anything else. Fill your settings is really the only way to get personalized info from the Craft Calculator. Click on the button "Save" besides to save this skill value in your settings (registered users only), the Calculator will display a confirmation message and will reload after the operation.
Let's come back to our example to be clear.
A batch of Auto-craft [Beg] needs 5 Multi-Hued Crystal Shard.
- If you specified in your settings that one Multi-Hued Crystal Shard costs 50,000 gold (common price on your server for example). The Calculator will take it, and the total cost for the 5 will be 50,000
- If you didn't specify in your settings the Multi-Hued Crystal Shard's price, the Calculator will look for crafting possibilities. As this item is craftable, and requires Crystal level 1, the calculator will search in your settings.
- If you haven't Crystal level 1, the Calculator will considerer you can't craft it, so will search the Market fixed price as a last chance. As it isn't sold at fixed price, the Calculator will display a cost of "0", and considerers you got it by yourself.
- If you have Crystal level 1 (or more), the Calculator will considerer you'll craft it, and will look for the material costs. From now the process is the same: the calculator first searches for prices in your settings, then if the material is a craftable item itself, etc.
4. The Material tree
The Material tree represents what was explained before: a craft needs materials, some materials are themselves some craftable items, and the calculator shows the whole tree.
You can show/hide this tree by clicking on Toggle material details display
link (top-right the your page).
As often, Left-side shows user-independant data, the full tree for an ideal crafter with all craft skills at level 100, who buys non-craftable items at the Market (fixed price) when available. On each line you have the material, which will popup an information (including loot table) window if you click on it ; the quantity needed for this craft (depending on the Item quantity you put ; the Unit cost (cost for one item), and the total (Unit cost * quantity needed). This way, you easyly see what is required.
The numbers just before the material names indicate the depth in the craft hierarchy.
The hammer icon
shows cratable items, clicking on it will load it into the Craft Calculator (as if you selected it from the selection lists at the top). Using the history feature, you can quickly load an craftable material, then come back to the parent.
The Right-side does the same with your data, using your settings prices and skill levels. Names appear in red when you cannot craft them.
The small coin icon
is a quick way to set up your own price to the related item. It will display a popup where you can specify a price (let it blank to delete personnalized price). After validation, the value will be stored in your settings and the Calculator will reload so as to recalculate the whole craft.
5. Tips, important things to remind
- Move your mouse through the page, many inline help/tooltips are available (code for colors, explanations, etc)
- Use your settings to set up your skill levels and material prices. Refresh the page when you want to recalculate all.
- Generic data on the left ; user data on the right
- Use the forum if you're lost, want to suggest improvements or give your feedback (it would be very nice).
And the most important: have fun on Atlantica Online! This tool is made to help you with crafting activities, hope it will contribute (very modestly) to get a more interesting economy, which is an important aspect of the game as questing, PvE, PvP, guilds, etc.
