Help on Guilds
Basically, all tasks related to Guild management (create, join, leave, edit...) are available through the "My Guild" section of your account.
The Guild directory lists all the guilds registered on AOP, with sorting options. So it's easy and fast for players to find THE guild which matches their needs.
Joining a Guild
Requirements
In order to join a guild, you need to:
- Be logged on AOP
- Specify both In-game name and Server in your account (note: you won't be able to change them until you leave the guild)
- Be independant (i.e. not belonging to an existing guild)
How it works
The "My Guild" page will list all the Guilds registered on AOP, matching the server you specified in your account.
After you made your choice (be sure to read their page before, including the description), just click on the right "join" link. By the way, it's usually better to be a true guild member before, so that guildies know who you are.
You'll be automatically added to the link as an "initiative", and leader & officiers receive an automatic notification. As an initiative, you won't appear in guild stats, and you won't be able to see "Guild only" private pages. So it's useless to join in order to see private matters.
If they accept you, you'll be promoted to "Guild Member", else they will "Dismiss" you. In this case, please don't insist and don't join again. Any abuse will result in a ban.
Creating a Guild
Requirements
In order to create a guild, you need to:
- Be logged on AOP
- Specify both In-game name and Server in your account (note: you won't be able to change them until you leave the guild)
- Be independant (i.e. not belonging to an existing guild)
Creation Process
Use the create a guild link from your account.
Note that the server of the guild matches the server you specified in your account, in order to be coherent. Your Guild will be created after the validation, and you can edit it at any moment.
Don't forget that any fake or nasty guilds, as forum topics, will be moderated ; and can result in ban.
Private Forum
One private forum is automatically created with the Guild. That means you don't need to ask an admin or create your own on another site. Only (your) Guild Members or above can view it. The features and the design are the same as other forums on AOP (AOtags, direct access to member's data, etc.).
Private forums are not more created on AOP
However, it is limited to one forum (no more, no less), so if you're a leader of a big and active guild, you should considerer the option to create your own website.
Managing a Guild
Guild hierarchy
| Role | Edit Guild | Edit Members' rank | Appear in Guild stats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guild Leader | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Chief Officer | Yes | Yes (except leader) | Yes |
| Guild Officer | No | Yes (except leader and officers) | Yes |
| Guild Member | No | No | Yes |
| Initiate | No | No | No |
- Additionnal notes:
- The Guild leader is the only one who can nominate the Chief Officer, and promote him/her to the new Guild Leader. However, if the leader drops the game, you can ask an admin to change him/her manually.
- The Chief Officer is the only one (with the leader) to be able to edit the guild itself (town, description...)
- The Guild Officers, contrary to Atlantica Online ones', can modify members' and initiates' ranks too, as well as dismiss them. It will make the updates easier on AOP, as the leader and officer are usually busy with in-game tasks
- The Guild Members are the classic members, as in Atlantica. They have no special rights. It's the minimum rank to access the Guild private forum.
- The Initiates are players asking to join the guild. Promote them to member in order to accept them, dismiss to reject their request (see "Joining a guild to learn more about the process").
Edit the guild
Leader and Chief Officer can both edit the guild parameters: level, town, nation, and description.
The name or the server of the guild can't be modified. If your guild move to another server or change its name, the process is the same as in Atlantica Online: delete your guild, then create a new one.
Notifications, new members
Leader and officiers receive notifications through private messassing when important modifications are made.
That includes any rank modification, so when a new user asks for joining the guild (he/she automatically becomes an Initiate), they receive a private message from the server to inform them. They'll also receive another notificaiton when an officer promote the newcomer to Guild Member, or dismiss him/her. This way, high ranks also know who did what.
