Craft Calculator beta 2 released
Posted 01/27/2009 - 08:43 by Admin Muwing
After the recent updates of Character Simulator and Formation Builder, today the AOP's Craft Calculator releases as version beta 2 too. Changes are less radical than these previous tools, but noticable and mainly answer to crafters' requests:
- Item quantity can be set up to 999,999 instead of 99
- Auto-Craft and Current Craft skills now have a "Save" button besides, so registered users can quickly update them without opening the "Settings" page
- In the same way the quick item/material price setting (gold coin icons) now opens a simple popup where users can put their price, instead of the full "Settings" page
- In both cases, the Craft Calculator auto-reloads if necessary, so as to take the new values into consideration
- XP Ratio has been renamed to XP_yield, so as to avoid some confusions
- It's now possible to specify level to reach, so as the calculator gives the amount of items needed (following level remains default)
- Items by skill box/listing (the right one) now scrolls to the right category while selecting a new item from the Items by name listing or history
- Performance optimizations have been made, the game tool loads faster, toggle material list is more reactive too
- Documentation is being updated in order to reflect the changes
Feedback, suggestions and bug reports are still welcome.
This release - the day AOP is 3 months old - ends the game tools updates period.
That doesn't mean I won't correct or make any small improvements to them, but I'm now focusing on the third - and last - big part of this fansite: Community.
The work is huge and I'll need time to study, analyse and test the future community features. That's why I prefer to give no delay, as I don't know how I'm going to code this part.
However, you're more and more numerous to visit (about 1,800 each day) and register AOP, so I really believe that our fansite is ready for that.
Stay tunned! ;)
PS: if you get javascript errors with Internet Explorer, please force the cache clearing of your browser.
tip: forced cache clearing is control + F5 if i remember it correctly (use firefox now). Also, Mana Shield still is not listed for the skill data collector.
Beta 2.1 released, with many bugfixes :
- Bug fix: some crafts could generate javascript errors with anynomous users
- Bug fix: very long crafting trees as Oracle License are so heavy that they did not load correctly
- Bug fix: gold coin shortcut for sub-material made a javascript error (registered user)
- Display fix: quantities are rounded better
- Display fix: some costs could be misaligned with Internet Explorer
- Database updated: Perfect Silk corrected (glues were missing) ; Tandoori Tikka removed (not craftable, and was causing bugs)
Thanks to all players who reported bugs or other problems :)
looks very good - just one request - when I have the option ticked for only show what I can produce it would be really convienient to have a little note in red saying "next crafting item available at level 11" so that I can check how many levels I need to gain before I have a new option.
Is it really useful?
Adding this feature will make the code heavier, so the calculator less reactive (the Crafts by Skill box is a kind of cheat to bypass Internet Explorer limitations, that's why it's slower and heavier than standard select boxes).
However, you only have to click Hide [u]nable
or use the key shortcut (Alt+u with IE or Alt+Shift+Key with Firefox) to see the (red) following levels. And using this solution you also see which item(s) are available, can click on them, etc.
Yes that is what I am doing now, but when I am looking for the next ring and add in the non craftable ones the window position is back in armours somewhere (so I have to scroll down almost the entire list) - obviously it is just retaining the number of items scrolled down.
Could the code be altered so that it saves the section that the window is in? - again it is a minor matter, but you asked for feedback :)
I updated the Craft Calculator yesterday (version beta 2.11) to fix that, since as your previous request made me test and see this problem :)
I've tested with Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 7, could you give your configuration if it doesn't work ?
Thanks that is much better.
