How to post on AOP

Posting on the AOP fansite is basically as easy as posting on forums. You just need to register on our fansite or be logged in (see the block at the top-right of your screen).

Post a comment

You can post your own comment on specific news and guides.
To do that, just click on add new comment at the bottom of the article. You'll see a box to fill.
Subject is optional, if empty it will take by default the first words of your comment text.
Comment is the text of your comment. You can use classic BBCode and AO tags to format them.

Post on forums

Create a new topic

Enter the forum you want to post on (by clicking on its title), then click on the Post new Forum topic link at the top of the page. You can use classic BBCode and AO tags to format your message.

Answer an existing topic

Enter the topic you want to answer (by clicking on its title), then use the Post new comment box at the bottom. It works the same way as all comments within the site.

Write a guide

Any registered user can submit a guide. It has several advantages compared to forum posting (here or elsewhere):

  • Your guide won't disappear in the deep pages that people don't read anymore
  • Your guide will be well-formatted and corrected before publishing
  • Your guide will be translated, and understandable by a large amount of players

To submit a guide, use the Write a guide link, you'll see an editing window.

  • Title must be relevant, not lyrics or quotes
  • Then choose one or more tags. As you write a guide, "Guide" has to be selected.
  • Choose the language of your text, usually English
  • Write the content itself in the big text area. You can use classic BBCode and AO tags to format your text.
  • You can add files (i.e. illustrating pictures).
  • Then submit it when it's ready!

What happens next ?
It's easy, the AOP team will read your guide, and may ask you a few questions/details about it (if necessary).
When everything is correct, we'll correct (language) mistakes, improve formatting, and add some illustrations ; at the end it will be published, and later translated.
By default, the guide will be credited to his/her author (your nickname on AOP), but you can ask to be anonymous.

AO tags

Based on a the same syntax as BBCode tags, AO tags allow you to create easy links leading to the whole site (or almost). This single sentence will show you how it can work within a text:

My [ao:character]Main Gun[/ao], helped by 2 [ao:mercenary]Swordman[/ao] mercenaries battled [ao:monster]Headless Soldier[/ao] in [ao:field]Yosun Temple[/ao], and got 10 [ao:item]Ashen Crystal[/ao]

and the result:

My Main Gun, helped by 2 Swordman mercenaries battled Headless Soldier in Yosun Temple, and got 10 Ashen Crystal

Available AO tags are: character, field (ex: Yosun Temple), fields (ex: Ruins of the Yellow River), item, mercenary, monster, npc, skill and world (ex: Central Asia).
The text between the tags is not case sensitive, so both [ao:mercenary]Monk[/ao] and [ao:mercenary]monk[/ao] will work.

You can also link to any article (news, guide) putting its numerical ID : [ao:24]the text you want[/ao] will do : the text you want. It automatically creates the right URL depending on the user's language.
