That's why it's the "default" background that most visited websites around the world are using - including Google, Youtube, Facebook, Ebay, etc

As soOshiie said, you should try setting up your monitor first. I recommend you the (free) software Calibrize.

If you still have difficulties after that, you can use custom styles to change the backgrounds of the websites you visit.
With firefox you can drag and drop the following link in your bookmarks: Custom Style. Then click on it when you want to apply your new color scheme.
