Skill choices - exo, monk(s) and prophet
So I restarted as a saw main and this time around I'll be having 2 monks and an exo, and probably later a prophet (at least for pve). The rest of the mercs I'm using have fairly obvious skill choices but for these there seems to be a few options. So I'm wondering what to do
First for exo - seems like the standard thing would be to get a few points in seal magic, then max speed cast, then finish off seal magic. But I'm starting to rethink maxing off seal magic - all that seems to give you is a bit of extra damage which is going to be extra magic damage on staff users - i.e. pretty much irrelevant. If you can get away with something like 11-20 points and still never miss with seal, then perhaps put the rest in mana burn to have a decent attack move at least for pve (against fliers maybe?), or possibly as a mana drain build against melee/bosses. Is that a viable plan?
Then for monks - getting the 2 passives is obvious (and putting alot of points in them, perhaps max) but then we get to the issue of awaken and HG. Both monks should have both skills to lvl 11 at least let's say, but then I'm guessing each one pumps a different skill with the rest of the points?
As for prophet, maxing concentration is obvious to me but which one of the weapons I should pick is hard to see. I want this primarily for pve, and I'm wondering - do all mobs that hit a single target (which don't use a staff-like attack) count as "sword" (i.e. like sheep or bears)? Or only ones that have some noticeable weapon? Since it seems there are far more of those types of mobs then the axe and spear users sword seems like the best choice for pve if that's how it works. And for pvp it's not an obvious choice but still I'd probably care most about putting this on a pirate, especially since most other heavy melee hitters (spears/spart and BT) would be in the front line and hence either HGed or frozen, so it wouldn't work all that well on them.

1 in both Seal Staff and Mana Burn

Just so you know, Seal Staff hits Staff mercs in PVP really hard. Mana Burn is the preferred skill in PVE Exos.
Monks:
Max Awaken
Max Passive
Rest into HG
That's for PVE DMF. Generally, it's better to have Oracle/monk in PVE than monk/monk.
If PVP, b/c that's when DMF is actually good:
Max Awaken
Max HG
30 SoP
and the other monk has
Max Awaken
30 HG
Max protect.
Thanks guillermo, so I guess it's either that or axe, since now I remember that quite alot of the mobs in tower of babel and the like use axe attacks that hurt ;P. I'll have to see how prevalent they are.
evantide... for exo that doesn't make alot of sense. What's the point of having lvl 1 in both seal staff and mana burn? If the values on this website are accurate, both the damage and the -ap/drain are pathetic at low lvls. And for seal staff in particular the damage goes only to 1K a turn, at lvl 60 of skill and 100+ of char for pvp. Which on a staff user with huge mdef doesn't seem like a big deal (i.e. my staff's scud is nominally about 2K damage but on staff it's much lower). Although this is all beside the point since in any case in pvp I'd either be using mana seal against staff users.
So I guess I'll just dump the rest of my points in MB, and maybe use charms to get away with only 11 in mana seal to maybe make mana burn worth casting in pve at least.
As for monk, well I'll have to see but especially for pve if I want to frontline main (and I do), I don't think I'll be able to get away with not maxing SoP. But other then that just specialize in different skills with the different monks I guess.
THe skill spread I gave for exo allows the most diversity. I'm assuming this Exo will be taken to Phoenix equips, and eventually Dragon God +120 upgrade + lvl 120 charms. This set allows you to do everything while maintaing the Exo's primary focus.
Seal Staff deals incredibly good DOT damage vs Staff in PVP at high lvls. It hits about twice as hard as Mana Seal, so if you want to damage a weakend Staff merc, this is a very good skill to use. Seal Staff hits for 1k average on a staff character, but that's just on casting. You need to include the immeadiate DOT on the next turn and the DOT hits for each turn up to 2 turns later. THat's an amazing 4k damage from this one skill. Mana Seal only delivers a payload of around 1.7k.
Mana Burn is the perfect PVE anti-air for Exo and it drains decently well even at slightly lower lvls. Burn also allows the Exo to lvl faster.
56 speed cast is max AP bonus for exo lvl 100+ ; before that, max AP is reached at lvl 51.
Always take into account though that the exo uses swords, and that those swords give +skill lvls, so deduct these lvls from the lvl you wanna reach in your skill, no need to waste skill points =)
I use mana burn when my exo helps in PvE and it's not bad, since it's cross-shaped damage.
My planned skill breakdown for the monk is 60 SoP (sword main), 45 HG and 45 awaken.
I use single monk and have to alternate between awakening and HG, so I want both of them to have a nice lvl to be able to enjoy the small heal they give.
About the prophet, max concentrate, then take a bit of each other skills, but maybe favor shattered sword.
+Skills don't work on Passives. Tested and proven in game, so you should always raise passives to max effect if you plan to use them.
