Hello,

I was wondering what would be an ideal skill breakdown for a sword main after lvl 100.

I used to have guard dispel 11, break down 60 and flame sword 40. I recently modified it – by decreasing break down – to max flame sword, like my sword mercs.

I’m also about to decrease guard dispel, since I now get enough + skills from my sword : lvl 1 will be enough.

My question now is more about flame sword vs chaos edge. I have no doubt chaos edge is better, since it’s a lvl 100 skill, but is it useful to have both ?

I mean, what’s the data of both skills, in terms of skill cooldown ? If chaos edge has a longer cooldown, it might indeed be useful to have flame sword. It would also be a waste to use a row skill on a single target otherwise.

In my opinion, break down isn’t that bad. It helped me at some point to level my main by finishing mobs “softened” by meteor and summon.
But I have to agree the damage isn’t that great when compared to evanescent scud. And it doesn’t get better when faced with 100+ mobs.
And if most people ditch their witch around lvl 100 because meteor is making less of a difference, why keep a lesser AoE ?
So, my dilemma is more about keeping an (below ?)average AoE (AoEs are always useful) or a great spike skill.

Guard dispel 1, chaos edge 60, flame sword 60, break down 29 (with all potential points used of course)
Or guard dispel 1, chaos edge 60, break down 60, flame sword 29

What’s your opinion on this ?

im a lvl 120 sword, been sword since open beta, my skill layout is:

guard dispel: 1
chaos edge: 60
breakdown: 60
flame sword: 29

on higher lvl mobs flame sword is really not used at all, its dmg is much lower than a regular attack and breakdown is much more usefull for aoes, so you want breakdown maxed, chaos edge is extremely strong is some situations and is the only skill I regularly use for fl, to be honest if swordies got a new skill i would get rid of flame sword and leave it at 1 or something...

I've indeed retaken break down to lvl 60 and it's not that bad after all, I was just disappointed compared to scud, but it doesn't suck.

Breakdown

Yeah, people kept saying breakdown sucks but...now that I've got it about 50 its really not bad. I mean, compared to scud yeah but...its not terrible...so for anyone gonna be a melee main but don't want to as much because of breakdown, I would recommend melee...unless you want a really strong aoe...idk what I'm saying, I gotta shut up lol.
