[ac]AOP[/ac] is a rich fansite which offers much game information, online tools and contributing opportunities around the Atlantica Online [ac]MMORPG[/ac].
Using its features is not hard but may appear disconcerting for new users.
That's why this manual has written, in order to help you to grasp [ac]AOP[/ac] and the way to use it. This handbook puts together the following different parts:
You will find here the most usual terms, abbreviations and acronyms used in the Atlantica Online [ac]MMORPG[/ac].
Important : this page will evolve a lot before the final release of AOP. Right now, its main goal is to briefly present the site features to new visitors.
AOP is an amateur site entirely devoted to the strategic MMORPG Atlantica Online (Ndoors Corporation). It offers general content for both beginners and expert players, with a goal of efficiency, quality and accessibility.
About : general info about AOP and Atlantica Online.
Game Information : a complete compilation of game data. Except the "Guides" section, you'll find almost no texts/explanations. The goal is to bring clear and raw information that is quickly usable. Regular players should love that.
Game Tools : online tools designed for players; some features are only usable by registered users.
My Account : the most important section for registered users
Contributions : provide links to contribute to AOP. Users with special access as part of the staff have more options, such as a monster editor for entering data about monsters.
Community : this part will be updated much more in future developments.
Posting on the AOP fansite is basically as easy as posting on forums. You just need to register on our fansite or be logged in (see the block at the top-right of your screen).
You can post your own comment on specific news and guides.
To do that, just click on add new comment
at the bottom of the article. You'll see a box to fill.
Subject
is optional, if empty it will take by default the first words of your comment text.
Comment
is the text of your comment. You can use classic BBCode and AO tags to format them.
Enter the forum you want to post on (by clicking on its title), then click on the Post new Forum topic
link at the top of the page. You can use classic BBCode and AO tags to format your message.
Enter the topic you want to answer (by clicking on its title), then use the Post new comment
box at the bottom. It works the same way as all comments within the site.
Any registered user can submit a guide. It has several advantages compared to forum posting (here or elsewhere):
To submit a guide, use the Write a guide
link, you'll see an editing window.
What happens next ?
It's easy, the AOP team will read your guide, and may ask you a few questions/details about it (if necessary).
When everything is correct, we'll correct (language) mistakes, improve formatting, and add some illustrations ; at the end it will be published, and later translated.
By default, the guide will be credited to his/her author (your nickname on AOP), but you can ask to be anonymous.
Based on a the same syntax as BBCode tags, AO tags allow you to create easy links leading to the whole site (or almost). This single sentence will show you how it can work within a text:
My [ao:character]Main Gun[/ao], helped by 2 [ao:mercenary]Swordman[/ao] mercenaries battled [ao:monster]Headless Soldier[/ao] in [ao:field]Yosun Temple[/ao], and got 10 [ao:item]Ashen Crystal[/ao]
and the result:
My [ao:character]Main Gun[/ao], helped by 2 [ao:mercenary]Swordman[/ao] mercenaries battled [ao:monster]Headless Soldier[/ao] in [ao:field]Yosun Temple[/ao], and got 10 [ao:item]Ashen Crystal[/ao]
Available AO tags are: character, field (ex: Yosun Temple), fields (ex: Ruins of the Yellow River), item, mercenary, monster, npc, skill and world (ex: Central Asia).
The text between the tags is not case sensitive, so both [ao:mercenary]Monk[/ao] and [ao:mercenary]monk[/ao] will work.
You can also link to any article (news, guide) putting its numerical ID : [ao:24]the text you want[/ao] will do : [ao:24]the text you want[/ao]. It automatically creates the right URL depending on the user's language.
This page describes some tools used by Staff members. If you're curious, you can ready it to see how we work ;)
Note: since 02/14/09, links to editors are available from the "Staff Panel".
The chat is basic but functional. It's "real time" and refreshes automatically every 30 seconds.
The only detail you have to know is that you can keep it in one of your browser's tabs (while you're working on AOP for example). If someone posts, you will see a star appearing before the Title, so * Tribune instead of Tribune. So you don't need to check the window. Click here to see an example.
This basic tool makes it possible to edit all available boxes, at least their content and their description.
After selecting a box, new content can be added from the list at the right. First specify both minimum and maximum quantities (put 0 if unkown, put the same number if the value is unique), then double-click the item name.
To update a box (for example: a new max quantity), add it again with the new values, it will overwrite the old data.
Look at the Monster Editor below, it works the same way.
This new version should save 20% of the time :
One important thing : CLICK ON THE SUBMIT BUTTON TO VALIDATE, don't use [Enter] on your keyboard, or else the items will be ignored.
In the Location part, if you use the "Same as above" choice, it will take the same Region/Field value as the one above it (or if that one is "Same as above", it will take the one above that and so on).
If some magic skills, special features or items are not in the list, contact me (on the forum or elsewhere), I'll add them.
Please don't add incomplete monsters, add all Basic+Item+Location info. In the same way, don't add any event monster, as they are temporary and disappear once the event finished (that's also why item event are not available).
This basic tool makes it possible to add quests from quest logs.
Explanations within the editor are quite clear, but the best way to start is to look at the first quests to see how it works.
The Todo List is a simple but efficient tool to know what we have to do, and who is managing such task. It is highly recommended that Staff members look at it before doing something on AOP.
Anyone of you can add a task. For instance :
If you want to contribute to a task, click on its number (first column) to edit it, then check "I contribute to this task".
You can also leave a task : same process as above, but uncheck "I contribute to this task".
You can have several contributors on the same task (i.e. : Monster Database)
First, you can read this general help page about posting on AOP (in particular the Write a guide
part).
To Edit or Translate an article, just enter it (by clicking its title on the front page or using the Articles overview, and you'll see two extra buttons at the top (just below the title) : Edit and Translate.
Now let's see the additional options that Contributors have:
BBCode + HTMLone, or else html tags won't be interpreted.
Flag translations as outdatedif necessary.
Published, that you check when the translation is over (not before). Indeed, the other options (front page etc) will follow automatically the English version.
Additional notes about translations:
[ac]AOP[/ac]'s Craft Calculator is a powerful tool which can help Atlantica Online's players in their crafting activities.
It proposes a lot of inline help, that you can see moving your mouse on the different fields. This documentation will show you in 5 steps how it works.
Before that, just memorize an important thing: within the Craft Calculator (like the whole AOP fansite), left side contains general and user-independant content ; right-side contains personalized info and user-dependant content.
The first time you open the Craft Calculator, it will show the Action: Auto-Craft [Beg] item. You have several ways to select another one, and navigating through crafts.
The left listing shows all available crafts by name. The number at the end of the game gives the skill level needed. You can go up/down using your mouse or your keyboard (arrow keys). Another useful shortcut is to type the first letter of the item you want (you must click in the listing before so as to select it). To load a new item from here, just Double-click or press your SpaceBar on it.
Just underneath, you have the History List and control. Try loading several items, each new one will be added in your history. You can navigate through your history using the dropdown or arrow icons. It works exactly as your web browser.
The small
info icon will display a popup giving you info on the current item, including loot and enchanting tables (if available). To close the popup, click on the X at the bottom, or use your X key (doesn't work will all browser). Basically, it's a shortcut towards the Items section of the site, selecting the right item for you.
The right listing shows all available crafts sorted by skill/category, then the level required in this skill (the numbers you can see before the item names). You can go up/down using your mouse (no keyboard here), and load an item by clicking on it.
Names in red are items you cannot craft ; names in blue are items you can craft. This matches you own skill levels, that you enter in your settings (we'll see this aspect soon).
Just underneath, you have 2 filters available:
- the Hide unable checkbox will hide/show the items you cannot craft, so the names in red.
- the Show skill dropdown allow you to select a specific craft category (ie only swords or food).
These filters are cumulative, that means if you check Hide unable and select Spear in the dropdown, the list will only show the Spears you can craft.
This part is only available to registered users, and is essential to use the best abilities of the Craft Calculator.
Just click on the Settings link at the top-right of the page. A pop-up will appear. To close it, click on the X at the bottom, or use your X key (doesn't work will all browser).
Now let's see what it proposes:
The table at the left allows you to set up your skill levels, plus the Auto-craft expression. Just copy your ingame data, skills appear in the same order as the game window.
They will be used by the craft calculator to determine which items you can craft (see above with name colors), but also the crafting cost calculation.
Indeed, in our Auto-Craft [Beg] example, this craft requires a [ao:item]Multi-Hued Crystal Shard[/ao]. This material can be crafted if you know Crystal level 1.
So if you don't put Crystal 1 in your skill levels, the Craft Calculator will consider you'll have to get it by yourself. As it isn't sold on the Market (with a fixed price), its cost will be 0 by default (and the cost will appear in red).
But if you specify in your settings that you know Crystal at level 1 or more, the Craft Calculator will consider you'll craft the [ao:item]Multi-Hued Crystal Shard[/ao] by yourself, whose cost (which now appears in green) is 119,600 gold using fixed prices.
If we continue with this last example, especially the Multi-Hued Crystal Shard, you will see the calculator use the market price by default (red-colored prices).
Now let's imagine you get a lot of [ao:item]Ashen Crystal[/ao], and don't need to buy them. In your settings window, type 0 in the Price textfield, then find the Ashen Crystal in the right list (ordered by name), and double-click on it. You will see it added in the left list (your material prices), with its cost (0).
Think about reading the instructions in the settings page. For example, you can remove an item from your list by double-clicking on it (it can occur when your own stock is over). You can also change an existing price by adding the same item with a new price: the most recent will erase the old one.
Now save your changes by clicking on the submit button (DO NOT USE THE ENTER KEY OF YOUR KEYBOARD).
It will display you new settings, and the following message:
Your settings have been saved. If you were in the Craft Calculator, you should refresh its page.
So let's do it, using the F5 key or the Refresh button of your browser.
At the top-right area of the Craft Calculator page, you will see:
Your skill levels. Example:
Your crafting skills: *Auto-Craft* (2), Action (30), Cannon (34), Crystal (1), Fishing (10), Spear (51).
Your prices, within a table. Note: each price is, obviously, per unit. So in our example:
Ashen Crystal - 0
We can also see quickly that the Craft Cost for one Multi-Hued Crystal Shard decreased from 119,600 gold to 118,000 gold (we'll see later how the costs are calculated), as we don't have to buy the Ashen Crystal anymore.
The Craft Calculator gives a lot of data, what can be disturbing for beginners. That's why we'll give a few explanations about the terms used.
: each craft belongs to a specific category (ex: Sword items need... sword craft skill!) and requires a specific levels. In the Craft Calculator, levels are directly visible into the selection lists.
: the level you put in your settings related to the current craft, or 0 by default. You can change it here to see in real-time the impact on the Item quantity to level up
, but it won't change anything else. Fill your settings is really the only way to get personalized info from the Craft Calculator. Click on the button "Save" besides to save this skill value in your settings (registered users only), the Calculator will display a confirmation message and will reload after the operation.
Let's come back to our example to be clear.
A batch of Auto-craft [Beg] needs 5 [ao:item]Multi-Hued Crystal Shard[/ao].
The Material tree represents what was explained before: a craft needs materials, some materials are themselves some craftable items, and the calculator shows the whole tree.
You can show/hide this tree by clicking on Toggle material details display
link (top-right the your page).
As often, Left-side shows user-independant data, the full tree for an ideal crafter with all craft skills at level 100, who buys non-craftable items at the Market (fixed price) when available. On each line you have the material, which will popup an information (including loot table) window if you click on it ; the quantity needed for this craft (depending on the Item quantity you put ; the Unit cost (cost for one item), and the total (Unit cost * quantity needed). This way, you easyly see what is required.
The numbers just before the material names indicate the depth in the craft hierarchy.
The hammer icon
shows cratable items, clicking on it will load it into the Craft Calculator (as if you selected it from the selection lists at the top). Using the history feature, you can quickly load an craftable material, then come back to the parent.
The Right-side does the same with your data, using your settings prices and skill levels. Names appear in red when you cannot craft them.
The small coin icon
is a quick way to set up your own price to the related item. It will display a popup where you can specify a price (let it blank to delete personnalized price). After validation, the value will be stored in your settings and the Calculator will reload so as to recalculate the whole craft.
And the most important: have fun on Atlantica Online! This tool is made to help you with crafting activities, hope it will contribute (very modestly) to get a more interesting economy, which is an important aspect of the game as questing, [ac]PvE[/ac], [ac]PvP[/ac], guilds, etc.
